EXHIBITION NOW OPEN

Paul Robeson and the South Wales Miners

This exhibition is part of The Welfare Ystradgynlais’ Community Arts Programme. It features art work by children of Ysgol Maesydderwen and their response to listening to Paul Robeson’s Transatlantic exchange with Miners during the 1957 Porthcawl Miners Eisteddfod.

Maesydderwen Art Department learners worked with experienced Community Artist Vivian Rhule to produce this exhibition.

The Welfare -Ystradgynlais – Y Neuadd Les and Maesydderwen School are grateful to Black History Month Wales / Cymru and Race Council Cymru for their support with this project which is part of their 2017 theme ‘Our Stars Our Future Our History’.

Sian Williams from South Wales Miners Library and the Paul Robeson Trust made the project accessible by introducing good resources and making the local connections
